Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition

The fifth iteration in our famed series uses Moscatel wine casks from the hills of Málaga, Spain, to finish our signature Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey style. Partnering with Bodegas Quitapenas, family-owned since 1880, to procure Spanish Moscatel casks known for their floral aromas accompanied with pineapple, peach and notes of honey.

The wine is aged in American Oak for 24 months before the casks are emptied and transferred to Mildeton Distillery for ageing. Here, Redbreast's Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey has been maturing in these casks since 2024.

Tasting Notes:

Nose
Opens with fresh and sweet citrus aromas of tangerine and twisted orange peel accompanied by delicate herbal notes of camomile tea with dustings of nutmeg and shaved cedarwood. The wine-seasoned oak imparts vanilla with richly scented notes of floral honey and sugar glazed fruits while the pot still spices add subtle notes of black peppercorn and clove in the background. ​

Taste
Vibrant fruits of sweet pear, lime, and green apple along with, with textured layers of toffee, honeycomb, and vanilla. Woodland spices of cinnamon and nutmeg are met with subtle floral undertones and dried herbs all the while the oak remains consistent throughout. ​

Finish
Lasting finish which sees the pot still spices and wine seasoned oak lingering until the very end. ​
